My name is Catherine. I am a former secondary school teacher. For ten years I worked in state and independent schools in different London boroughs and the north-east of England. I am now a stay-at-home mother of one and currently live in Putney, south-west London.
Having experienced a difficult birth but not fully understanding it, I embarked upon writing the pregnancy book which I wish I had had available at the time. Publishing agents turned me down but indicated that my work had intrigued them. I finished my book and decided to self-publish. I try to complement what I wrote in the book with blogposts here and snippets of antenatal education on Instagram.
I am also a parent representative for Maternity Outcomes Matter. We are a group of individuals and charities joining forces to campaign for safer maternity care.
Finally, you can find me on Twitter tweeting truth to power. The topics I cover include antenatal education, perinatal mental health, women’s rights in childbirth and women’s health.
